Ian McArthur
Ian McArthur has been playing guitar for 40 years and late in 2009, finally conceded to releases his debut solo album, Thirteen.
Thirteen follows his lifetime of playing, touring and recording. This passion for music culminated in the construction of his dream studio, Mac Alley.
As a fan of the mystical, Ian’s album Thirteen is inspired by his deep seeded interest in Mayan philosophies and existentialism. As a stark contrast to the philosophy captured in the artwork, Ian’s autobiographically inspired words touch on real human subjects like relationships, life on the road and struggles we all face. His lyrics commonly convey the thoughts and the plight of every man.
His music spans the gamut from blues to folk to jazz and latin rock and as a studio owner, he considers himself blessed to have been able to work with some of the finest studio musicians that Edmonton has to offer.
These musical roots are born out of his pure passion for recording and producing music, and the session players included in this album, are now indeed his friends, colleagues and contemporaries.
Ian has spread his musical passion from Toronto to Vancouver and finally laid roots in Edmonton in 1999.
